Patriarch Yazigi at Iftar Meal: Syrian People Longing for Peace to Prevail in Syria

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Patriarch of Antioch and All East for Greek Othodox Youhanna X Yazigi has stressed that the Syrian people are longing for peace to prevail in their country as they are shaking the dust of wars and terrorism.

During an Iftar meal held in honor of Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, who is visiting Syria, Patriarch Yazigi said that the Christian-Islamic fraternity is part of the history of this land.

He called on Patriarch Irinej to convey the amity of the Syrian people to the Serbian people and their sacred church and to urge the Serbians to pray for peace in Syria, for the good of all East and for the release of the two kidnapped archbishops Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yazigi whose cause has been ignored by the international community.

Final Communiqué of OIC Summit in Mecca Reflects Some Participating Countries' Subordination to Their Western Masters

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The final communiqué issued by the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, reflects the continuous subordination of some participating countries, mainly the hosting country, to their masters in the West, according to the Syrian  Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Commenting on the comminaque, an official source at the ministry told SANA on Sunday that the summit had better discussed solutions for the crises of some OIC member countries, such as extremism, violence, backwardness closed-mindedness, daily violations of human rights as well as the lack of democracy and freedom instead of assessing and criticizing countries like Syria which has far preceded them in terms of democracy, openness, development and civilization.

The army destroys Jabhat al-Nusra dens in Idleb countryside

Idleb - Syrian Arab Army units responded to the attacks of the terrorist groups on the military points tasked with protecting safe villages adjacent to the southern countryside of Idleb.

SANA said that the army units on Sunday carried out intensive artillery and missile strikes on the dens of “Jabhat al-Nusra” terrorists and groups affiliated to it in Medan Ghazal and al- Habbit villages in Idleb countryside.

SANA added that the strikes inflicted direct losses upon al-Nusra terrorists and destroyed their dens and fortified positions from which they were attacking safe villages.

On Saturday, the army units conducted precision strikes on dens of al-Nusra  terrorists in southern Idleb, killing and wounding many of them in response to their repeated attacks on safe areas in Hama countryside.

Syrian air defenses confront Israeli attack on countryside of Damascus and Quneitra

Damascus -  Syrian air defenses have confronted an Israeli attack targeted  some sites in southwestern Damascus and Quneitra, a military source said.

The the aggression resulted in the martyrdom of three soldiers and the injury of seven others.

The source told SANA that at 03,22 o’ clock on Sunday at dawn, some hostile aerial targets appeared coming from the direction of the occupied Golan; immediately our air defenses confronted them and downed the hostile missiles that were targeting our positions in the southwestern Damascus.

The source added that at 04,10 o’clock at dawn, the Zionist enemy renewed its aggression by firing several missiles on the eastern countryside of Quneitra; the aggression resulted in the martyrdom of three soldiers and the injury of seven others in addition to some material losses.”

On May 17th, Syrian air defenses confronted hostile targets were coming towards Quneitra.

 

The army destroys Jabhat al-Nusra dens in Idleb countryside

Idleb - Units of the army responded to the attacks of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists and destroyed a number of their dens in the surrounding of Kafr Oued and Ihsim villages in Idleb countryside, SANA said on Saturday.

SANA pointed out that army units also targeted with missiles and artillery strikes terrorists’ positions in the vicinity of Khan Shekhoun, al-Habeitt and Sheikh Mostafa villages in the southern countryside of Idleb.

Terrorist organizations targeted via a drone the village of Jebramleh in the northwestern countryside of Hama province, and no casualties were reported.
