Terrorist groups attack safe towns in Syria's Idleb, says Russian Defense Ministry

The "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" terrorist group has attacked areas in Syria's northwestern province of Idleb, Rear Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation, said on Saturday.

"We have registered two attacks on the area of Dahr al Kabir, two attacks on the area of Mellajah, one attack on the area of Maaret-Mouhos … in the Idleb province from the positions of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization", Zhuravlev said.

Divert weapons funding to research - to prevent next pandemic, pope says

Vatican, (ST) The Pope of the Vatican, Pope Francis, has called on governments around the world to direct money spent on weapons to research areas, to prevent other pandemics such as corona.


He also called on them to "direct the huge sums spent on possession of more weapons and making them stronger in favor of conducting sufficient research in order to prevent such disasters in the future."

A postage stamp on the occasion of World To combat smoking Day

Damascus,(ST)-The Syrian Post Corporation issued a commemorative stamp on the occasion of the International Day to combat Smoking, which falls on the thirty-first of May each year.

The Foundation said in a statement that Sana received a copy of it that the value of the stamp is 300 Syrian pounds, noting that the public and amateurs can obtain the stamp from the post offices spread in all governorates.

Russian politicians and researchers: EU decision to extend coercive measures on Syria is a genocide attempt against the Syrians

MOSCOW, (ST)- Former member of the Russian state Duma, Head of the Russian Committee for Solidarity with Syria and Libya Sergei Baborin has affirmed that the European Union's decision to renew the coercive measures imposed on Syria proves the maximum level of hypocrisy of the European officials and indicates their subordination to the United States.

By imposing coercive measures on Syria, the western officials not  only contribute to starving the Syrian people and hindering reconstruction in Syria, but also to making worse  the suffering of the Syrians  through undermining the work of the Syrian health and medical institutions, Baborin said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Moscow.

"The EU's decision can only be described as a genocide attempt against all the Syrian people," he stressed.

Baborin pointed out that Russia condemns the racist policy of the European Union. He expressed hope that the European people and their progressive forces will succeed in curbing the policy of imposing sanctions and in working to lift the coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.

Turkish regime sends tanks and military vehicles to their illegal bases in Hasaka

HASAKA, (ST)- The Turkish regime on Saturday sent several tanks and military vehicles to its illegal bases in the northern countryside of Syria's Hasaka province.

According to local sources, the Turkish occupation forces brought in three tanks as well as several armored vehicles from Turkish territories to their illegal base in Um Oshub village in Abu Rasin area in Hasaka northern countryside. The military vehicles entered the Syrian territories via the crossing of Ras al-Ayn city.
