Leaders of Guarantor States of Astana Process on Syria to Hold Trilateral Summit on Monday

MOSCOW, (ST)- Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that a trilateral meeting between leaders of the three guarantor states of the Astana process on the settlement in Syria.  (Russia, Iran and Turkey) will be held in Ankara on Monday.

According to Sputnik news Agency, Peskov told journalists today that President Vladimir Putin of Russia will arrive in Ankara on Monday, September 16, to participate in a trilateral summit on Syria and hold bilateral meetings with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan and with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani to discuss ways to solve the crisis in Syria.

31st Book Fair Witnesses Notable Arab and Foreign Participation

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Under the Patronage of President Bashar Al-Assad, the 31st Book Fair kicked off Thursday evening at Al-Assad National Library in Damascus with the participation of publishing houses representing Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Oman, Jordan, Sudan, Iran, Russia, Indonesia and Denmark.  

 Vice President Najah al-Attar represented President Al-Assad at the opening ceremony.

237 publishing houses, including 150 Syrian ones are taking part in this outstanding cultural event that presents more than 50 thousand titles.

"Celebrating the book fair today, after we have almost surpassed the crisis, means celebrating all values of culture which has given the book a key role in knowledge and in enhancing creativity," said al-Attar in a statement to journalists, stressing that the book has been one of the weapons of resistance and steadfastness under the current circumstances and in the confrontation of terrorism and conspiracies.

AL-QUDS,(ST)_ Archbishop of Sebastia of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of al-Quds [Jerusalem] Atallah Hanna has declared that the Israeli occupation exploits the deteriorating Arab situation and the Palestinian internal division to carry out its plots in the Holy land.

He commented on the Israeli Prime Minister's announcement of his intention to annex the entirety of the Jordan Valley and Dead sea as well as his plan to annex all illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank , by saying: "It is a new hostile attitude that could be added to the previous ones. It is also a new attack and a dangerous escalation, which targets our people and our just cause."

Syria Taking Part in 23rd Session of the General Assembly of UN World Tourism Organization in Saint Petersburg

SAINT PETERSBURG, (ST)- Syria is taking part in the 23rd Session of the General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) which kicked off its activities in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg on Wednesday with the participation of 1200 delegations from 150 countries.

During the opening ceremony, President Vladimir Putin of Russia said that he counts on supporting Russia's request to commemorate the World Tourism Day in 2022 and on the opening of an International Tourism Center under the auspices of the World Tourism Organization, vowing effective government support for the development of tourism in Russia.
