Spanish academics, experts condemn west's immoral sanctions imposed on Syria

MADRID, (ST)- Dr. Pablo Sapag, an associate Professor at Complutense University of Madrid has condemned the continued imposition of unfair and immoral sanctions on Syria.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Madrid, Sapag affirmed that all countries need to acquire the necessary means to fight coronavirus pandemic, urging immediate lifting of the illegal coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people, because the repercussions of these measures are more dangerous than the virus which Syria is confronting through preventive measures to protect its citizens.

On his part, head of the European Solidarity Front for Syria in Spain Carlos Baz called for putting an end to the blockade imposed by the United States and the European Union on Syria.

The continuity of the blockade is a blackmail procedure that violates human rights, negatively affects the livelihood of the Syrian people and hampers the delivery of medical aid to Syria in the light of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic worldwide.

Spanish Film Director Julio Perez, winner of the Goya Award for a documentary on Gaza in 2019, asserted that the unjust sanctions imposed on Syria aim at punishing the resistant Syrian people who kept steadfast in their war on Daesh terrorist organization.

Rodrigo Isasi Arce, Spanish expert journalist in Arab and Defense Affairs, said that the western siege on Syria aggravates the suffering of the Syrian people following nine years of war on their country and increases shortage in medical equipment and medicines amid the global coronavirus pandemic crisis.
