Cuba: Trump's Declaration on Occupied Syrian Golan Violates Legitimate Rights of Syrian People

NEW YORK, (ST)- Cuba has renewed its condemnation of US President Donald Trump's Declaration on occupied Syrian Golan in which he recognized "Israel's Sovereignty" over this part of the Syrian territory.

Cuba's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ana Silvia Rodriguez Abascal said in an intervention during a Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East that the "US decision violates the legitimate rights of the Syrian people as well as the Arab and Islamic nation and it has bad impacts on stability and security in the Middle East."

The Cuban diplomat stressed her country's rejection of the so-called "Deal of the Century" which aims at undermining the Palestinian cause. She reiterated that Cuba is also against the unilateral measures taken by the United States, including recognizing al-Quds as the capital of the Israeli occupation entity and stopping the funding of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).

She called on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities towards preserving international peace and security, calling for immediate end of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian lands, halting aggressive policies and forcing the Israeli occupation to comply with international legitimacy resolutions.
