Basalt Sculpture Forum in Deir Ezzor to celebrate the city's victory over Terrorism

DEIR EZZOR, (ST)- The Syrian city of Deir Ezzor, which had experienced a brutal terrorist siege by ISIS terrorist organization for more than three years before it was liberated by the Syrian Arab army in 2017, is now gradually recovering and celebrating victory in different aspects of life, including culture.

Within this framework, the city of Deir Ezzor is hosting the "Fourth Basalt Sculpture Forum-Victory" in which prominent fine artists and sculptors from different Syrian provinces are taking part to confirm Syria's victory and stress the Syrians' steadfastness and determination to rebuild their country on right bases. The forum kicked off on Monday and will last for 20 days.

57 small paintings summarize the views of the artist Osama Diab life

Damascus, (ST) –The exhibition of the Syrian artist Osama Diab, being held in Fatih al-Mudarres Art Gallery in Damascus, showcases 57 paintings depicting scenes from life that summarize his vision on life.

The paintings were drawn by the artist between 2013 and 2019. He used his usual expressive style based on reduction in fonts in favor of colors.

About the exhibition Diab said in a statement to SANA: “What distinguishes this exhibition is that it specializes in small paintings and provides a life drama from my observations through my life journey during the fifty-seven years and carries scenes of memories of young people in the beautiful countryside of Idlib, which summarize the whole Syrian countryside with its distinctive colors.

Researchers talk in a book about the achievements of the Syrian Researcher Mohammed Kurd Ali

Damascus, (ST) – Researcher Mohammed Kurd Ali is one of the most prominent linguists to the Arabic language where he spent his life in research and documentation of this language. He       was the first Ministerof Education in Syria and chairman of the Arabic Language complex in Damascus since its foundation in 1919 until his death in 1953.

The book entitled “Muhammad Kurd Ali, first chairman of the Arabic Language complex, and founder of Al-Sham Plans”, prepared and documented by Dr. Ismail Marwa and Nazih Al-Khouri, researches the history of Kurd Ali and his literary and intellectual achievement.

Cultural Activities

Aleppo Theatrical Days will be held on December 9th by the directorate of music and theatres in Aleppo. The event which will be held on the stage of the Artist Union in the city, includes various performances by Aleppo troupes and other activities including symposiums and lectures.

Syrian artist Ayham Kheir Bek recently displayed a number of his works within the framework of the exhibition of Artistic Experiences recently hosted by the Arab Cultural Centre in Abu Romaneh. Ayham's paintings include Palmyra and Damascene Sword.

In the same exhibition, artist Sabriya Fattoum displayed five paintings, the most prominent is the one depicting the bravery of the Syrian Arab soldier and another highlighting the steadfastness of the Syrian people in confrontation of the devastating terrorist war launched against their country.  The spikes of wheat painting represents hope of rebuilding the country and restoring normal life after the defeat of terrorists.

Bitar transfers wood into artworks that tell the Syrian civilization

The Damascene wooden mosaic is one of the oldest and most distinguished traditional handicrafts in Syria. The roots of this handicraft extend back to the sixteen century and it has passed down through generations.

With a charming artistic touch, Raouf Hanna Bitar from Lattakia province has spent 15 years among the woods which he gets  from different types of trees to make mosaic distinguished paintings that tell the story of the Syrian heritage  as well as the  deep-rooted civilization in its different shapes.
