"The Syrian Heritage Days Festivity"

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Without any doubt, Damascus, the oldest living city, is the most important among world cities which deserves to celebrate the World Heritage Day. This festivity was DEDICATED by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture UNESCO, in April 18th every year.

"Damascus is a city of heritage and civilization and all those who attended the events and activities of the Syrian Heritage Days which have been presented in the most beautiful Damascene heritage sites, must really feel pride and joy. No matter how difficult is the  crisis in our country nowadays, but we have never forgotten our heritage. " The Syrian researcher and historian Marwan Murad said.

Great talent and eventful career

Renowned Syrian actor Abdel Rahman Al Rashi passed away at the age of 83 leaving behind rich legacy through his eventful career in cinema, theatre, TV and radio.

With his death, the Syrian drama has lost a prominent pioneer actor who enriched the Syrian drama, cinema and theatre and left a permanent mark on the Syrian art through his distinguished roles. His eventful career included over 200 TV series and movies, and his booming voice allowed him to perform a number of national songs and anthems that are always screened on Syrian and Arab TVs.

The late actor’s roles were characterized with brutality, strength and evilness. But his real life is completely the opposite.  

"Circling" Film to Take Part in Morocco and Cairo Festivals

Damascus,(ST)_written by  scenarist Ali  Wajeeh And directed by Waseem al-Sayed, the Syrian film" Circling" is currently taking part in three International film festivals. The film is produced by the General Establishment  of Cinema.

It was  first screened during the 9th session of the International festival of  oriental film in Geneva in April from  4 through 13 instant.

The film will officially participate in Tiba short film Festival which will be opened in Cairo and it will run from 26 till 29 April.

Hassan M. Yousef one of the most influential personalities in the world

The Syrian writer and journalist Hassan M. Yousef has been recently chosen to be one of the hundred Arab intellectual figures that are most influential in the world in 2014. This classification was made by the Arabian Business Magazine's list which issued in Dubai in Arabic and English.

"This choice is considered a clear recognition of the literary role of Syrian intellectuals and I feel that it is more important because I am still living in Syria. I will stay in my beloved country wishing that it would return as it was before. Syria is our sick mother and sons  should not abandon their mother in these hard circumstances." Yousef said.

"Mariam" Movie, from Success to Another

After earning Grand Award of Dakhla International Film Festival in Morocco and the grand Award of Oran Arab Film Festival held in Algeria, the Syrian "Mariam" film won three new awards at Muscat International Film Festival.

" Mariam " won the Bronze Award for best movie, also the Syrian actress Sabah al-Jazaeri got the best actress award. The third award went to Farhad Mahmoudi for Best Cinematography.

The movie is considered the first Syrian movie which participated in Gulf Film Festival which was held in the Omani capital Muscat after the unjust exclusion of Syrian movies from Dubai Festival in 2012 .
