Exhibition Showcasing Syrian Contemporary Art Held in Iran's City of Tabriz

TEHRAN, (ST)- A fine art exhibition showcasing the Syrian contemporary art was opened on Sunday at the Islamic Art University in the Iranian city of Tabriz.

Four prominent Syrian artists are taking part in the four-day event, exhibiting 40 pieces selected from their most distinguished artworks which include, painting, Scupture and photography.

Director General of Culture and Islamic Guaidance in East Azerbaijan Province "Mohammad Mohammad Bour" said in a statement that the event aims at creating an environment for contacts between the Syrian and Iranian artists and at holding dialogue between the cultural and artistic centers in both countries.

"It is an opportunity to present the Syrian art and deepen educational and artistic cooperation in order to enhance cultural exchange between Syria and Iran," Mohammad Bour said.

On his part, Dr. Ihsan al-Err, Dean of The Faculty of Fine Arts of Damascus University said the the exhibition is a step forward to boost cultural exchange  between the two countries and a start for a series of exhibitions aiming to introduce the Syrian contemporary art to the Iranian people.
