DAMASCUS, (ST)- Al-Assad National Library on Saturday hosted a dialogue seminar on a book titled "The Man Who Didn't Sign" within the framework of the cultural activities held on the sidelines of the 31^st Book Fair.

Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, the Presidential Political and Media Advisor, and journalist Ghassan Bin Jiddo, the Chairman of the Board of al-Mayadeen Media Network, took part in the seminar and presented a review on the book which was signed by Dr. Shaaban at the end of the seminar.

 "The Man Who Didn't Sign" is originally a documentary produced by the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV.  The 12-part documentary, which sheds light on the history of Syria and the region over a period of 40 years, was presented on al-Mayadeen TV during 2018 and now it is published as a book.

According to SANA Arabic, Shaaban said that the documentary, which has become a book, focuses on the principled and firm stance of the late leader Hafez al-Assad on negotiations with the Israeli occupation entity to restore the occupied Syrian Golan.

The Inter-Arab relations, the American diplomacy and Camp David accord, the war in Lebanon, the beginning of the Lebanese national resistance, the Iraqi-Iranian war, the invasion of Kuwait, Madrid conference and the peace process , the collapse of the Soviet Union and Oslo accord and its repercussions on the Palestinian cause, are all topics dealt with in this book.  

She hailed the high level of professionalism and objectivity adopted by al-Maydeen TV in documenting the testimonies of witnesses.

ST- In a press statement on the occasion of the inaugurating of the Maqdisi Library "Jerusalem Library" Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban said that the existence of such libraries  comes at a time when we are in need for documentation and finding specialized centers for the researchers on the Palestinian issue. Our usurper enemy counterfeits history as its own, so we must document our rights in all fields, forums and global sites.  The documentation is part of the new awareness because identity, rights, history and the future of our children are the targeted ones.

The Maqdisi Library (Jerusalem Library), was inaugurated in Damascus yesterday by Al-Quds International Foundation, Syria, to be a basic source to any researcher or anyone interested in the Palestinian issue. The Library includes different maps, documents, books and manuscripts that vary between the political, poetry, literary and electronic categories.

Within the activities of the 31^st Book Fair, being held at Al-Assad National Library in Damascus, Chilean writer of Syrian origin, Dr. Pablo Sapag, an associate Professor at Complutense University of Madrid, has signed his book "Syria in Perspective" to uncover the western countries' destructive meddling in Syria's internal affairs and the anti-Syria propaganda launched by the Main Stream Media to distort facts about what is happening in the country.

According to the author, the book, written in Spanish, tells about what happened in Syria since 2011 until now and about the crisis that the Syrians have been suffering.

 "Syria in Perspective carries a humanitarian message. It is about the steadfastness,  the resistance and the victory of the Syrian people in the battle against terrorism," he said during the signing ceremony.

"I wrote this book from the depth of my heart and I am presenting it first of all to the Syrian people, to the martyrs of Syrian army, to the wounded and to all the displaced Syrians," he told the Syriatimes e-newspaper.

Recently, the former French diplomat Professor Michel Raimbaud published a book entitled ‘ The Syrian Wars’ [Les Guerres de Syrie,] in order to provide the readers with some think tracks and leads for reflection, if not answers to the questions asked by those willing to understand.

‘The book will offer a frame of explanation for the ongoing events, unveiling some realities and facts, and demystifying many lies and fictions,’ the author told the Syria Times e-newspaper, hoping that his book will contribute towards doing justice to Syria, its People, its Army that have resisted under a courageous leadership, with the support of allies and friends, to this savage and unprecedented aggression.

A REAL LEGEND - TIME TO RECONSTRUCT PALMYRA

In A. B. Daniel's book "Zenoubia's Legend", issued by the Parisian Cleric Publishing House, 2005, we can read many details of the life of Queen Zenoubia who ruled the Arabian Kingdom of Palmyra between 266 and 272AD, continued the march of her assassinated husband, King Uzaina, in liberating Syria from the Romans. Palmyra, in Zenoubia's term, reached the culmination of its power and prosperity.

In one of the chapters of his book, Daniel wonders about the nature of this woman who occupied the hearts of her people and the pages of books written about her story. He said: "Was Zenoubia, Queen of Palmyra, a real woman of flesh and blood? She was of sharp intelligence and rare bravery, of charming beauty and great power. Yes she was a queen, but not like other queens. She obliged the Roman Empire to kneel down in respect to her although she was in her thirties. All we know with certainty about Zenoubia is that in 260AD she was the wife of Uzaina, (Udanat) the famous king of Palmyra, who defeated the Persians and was appointed by the Roman Emperor Galliano, in 262, Commander in Chief of the Orient which was under Roman Rule. In ten years time this king could build a new empire, Palmyra, which extended from the Mediterranean in the west to the Euphrates in the east and to Egypt in the west. In 266 King Uzaina was assassinated in Emissa, now Homs, and his wife Zenoubia took his place, fought Rome, and declared independence.
