Iran and IAEA thrash out 'temporary solution' ahead of nuclear deal deadline

The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi announced today that a "temporary solution" has been reached with Iran for a period of three months, allowing the continuation of inspections, which he described as "satisfactory", of its nuclear facilities.

"The possibility of access to Iranian nuclear facilities will be limited, but we will be able to maintain the necessary level of monitoring and verification," AFP quoted Grossi as saying during a brief press conference after his return from a visit to the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Grossi arrived in Tehran Friday evening on his second visit to Tehran after assuming his position as Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

This visit comes at a time when the countdown to the end of the deadline set by Tehran, which is the 23rd of this February, to stop the implementation of the additional protocol and stop the additional inspections by the agency of Iranian nuclear facilities.
