Terrorist groups plan new chemical attacks against Syrian people

All incidents related to the use of chemical weapons in Syria must be discussed in a professional and unbiased manner at the Security Council on the basis of facts and data alone, instead of relying on allegations and deductions made by the enemies of Syrian people with the aim of accusing the Syrian government to facilitate the implementation of the Zionist project in Syria and the region.

Despite Syria’s commitment to its obligations on chemical weapons destruction, some countries are trying to politicize this file and support the armed terrorist groups which are committing the ugliest crimes against Syrian people and infrastructure.

The terrorist groups and countries backing them continued their sinister attempts to hamper the existing cooperation between Syria and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to achieve certain political objectives that aim at destroying the Syrian state and aggravate the suffering of Syrian people.

The most recent attempt was planning a new chemical attack in Damascus Countryside with the aim of accusing the Syrian government.

The recent call the Syrian authorities recently monitored between two terrorists in Jobar area in Damascus' suburb, during which one of them said a third terrorist referred to as Abu Nader is secretly distributing gas masks among his terrorist group members to protect them against toxic gas, proves that terrorists were planning to launch a chemical attack once again to accuse the Syrian government.

The Syrian authorities also intercepted another call between two terrorists, one of them referred to as Abu Jihad who said there will be a use of toxic gas in Jobar area, asking the terrorists working with him to prepare gas masks. The purpose of this talk is to use toxic gas once again to accuse the government of the attack, just like what happened last year in Ghouta area in Damascus Countryside and in Aleppo before that. It seems that the reason behind this sinister attempt was to undermine the good standing cooperation between Syria and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), as head of the joint mission of the United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Sigrid Kaag, told U.N. Security Council on the disposal of chemical weapons in Syria that everything is going well.

She said while talking at the Council that mortars are falling on Damascus and Lattakia port, referring that the armed terrorist groups in the two cities, have carried out numerous attacks on Lattakia as they continue targeting the port.  She affirmed that the states that have an influence on the armed terrorist groups in Syria should guarantee non-targeting the convoys transporting chemicals to Lattakia port.

The report of the OPCW Director General said that a large amount of chemicals have been moved out of Syria, where 11 shipments were transferred to Lattakia port and that about a half of the materials that will be destroyed outside Syria removed from the Syrian territories. Kaag also said that Syria has shipped out or destroyed nearly 80 percent of its declared weapons material describing the process pace as positive. The Transferring process of chemical weapons is going well and Syrian government has expressed its commitment to the deadlines. However, some of the 15 Security Council members had blocked a Russian proposal to issue a statement expressing the serious warning by the Council of the consequences of these terrorist attacks on the port of Lattakia against the shipments of the chemical materials. No one in Turkey, Qatar or Saudi Arabia's allies at the UNSC has exercised any pressure on those countries because in fact they are covering the terrorist criminal acts being perpetrated against Syrian people.

The most recent of these atrocious crimes was the Turkish forces coverage of the terrorist attack on Kassab where thousands of Armenian Syrians have been displaced and many of them were killed by the terrorist groups under Turkish military coverage. Another coverage for terrorist groups comes from France which has been taking a hostile stand against the Syrian people from the very beginning of the crisis in Syria motivated by its fake dreams to revive its colonialist plans in Syria and the region. France should not forget that 68 years ago, Syrian people forced them out of their homeland and end its fake colonialist dreams.

France is not neutral toward the situation in Syria as the French understanding of the region's policy is built, throughout history, on the sectarian and fragmentation logic to facilitate its control of the region. Immediately, after its occupation of Syria in 1920, the French mandate authorities divided the country into mini-states based on sectarian morality. The French policy is part of the crisis in Syria and not part of the solution. When France supports groups which are terrorists and not national opposition at all, then it is involved in terrorism in Syria and shoulders its responsibilities before the UN anti-terrorism committees for the crimes being committed against Syrian people and infrastructure.

The goals of terrorist groups' attack on parts of the Syrian coast, especially in Lattakia, is creating a disaster through the attack on dangerous materials and awkwarding the Syrian government with the aim of undermining the standing cooperation between the government and the United Nations. The terrorists want to create a disaster and endanger lives of civilians and members of OPCW-UN mission there to make the UNSC adopt escalating measures against the Syrian government to show it as incapable to get rid of the chemical weapons and fulfil its obligations with the OPCW.

More critical piece of information is that terrorist organization known as Jabhat al-Nusra broadcast a video on their YouTube channel last March 23rd showing preparations for carrying out a bombing in Sukkar site in Adra area in Damascus Countryside. The video showed a BMP armoured vehicle loaded with 7,000 kilograms of TNT and C4 and driven by a terrorist called Shamel al-Ansari, in addition to another car loaded with explosives driven by a Jordanian terrorist with the purpose detonating the two vehicles in Sukkar site, which contains chemicals.

As usual, the UN Security Council did not show any credibility in dealing with this issue. Syria directed scores of letters to the Security Council to have the countries that keep talking about the threats of chemical weapons to pressure the countries sponsoring and funding these terrorist groups, specifically Turkish, Saudi, and Qatari governments to prevent such terrorist acts by pressuring these terrorist gangs. These terrorist groups came from Turkish territories and were covered by Turkish artillery, tanks and aircrafts so that they aren't engaged by the Syrian Army in that area, with the purpose of the Turkish military involvement being an attempt to distract the Syrian Army form these terrorist groups so that they may commit their heinous acts. The terrorist crimes against Kasab people caused considerable migration of Syrian Armenians from Kasab and that there have been many victims.

The most powerful armed groups in Syria consist of jihadists and extremists who came from all over the world, and their goals have nothing in common with democracy because their principles are based on fanaticism and seek to destroy countries' secular qualities. The West has a short-sighted policy in dealing with terrorism, as it fights extremists in one place like in Mali while supporting them elsewhere like in Syria to achieve certain political and economic objectives.

The efforts to oversimplify what is happening in the Arab world and depict it as a struggle between democracy and tyranny or good and evil have obscured the real issues related to the rising tide of extremism through which the US and its allies can achieve their sinister objectives.

The US approach on the issue of chemical weapons in Syria is based on double standards. The US and Israel use chemical weapons themselves when it suits them. The white phosphorus was used by Israel and the US several times. There have been very clearly documented examples where it's been used as a weapon, fired directly at people, and there's no doubt it's a chemical weapon used in those circumstances. It's a chemical which oxidises on contact with air and just keeps burning. It inflicts hideous burns because it just keeps on burning until it runs out of oxygen, so right down to the bone. The white phosphorus is a really horrible weapon, and yet we don't call that a chemical weapon, because it's been used by US troops and Israel.

Russia said that home-made ammunition was used in a chemical attack carried out in Aleppo in March 2013, which killed over two dozen people.

Russian experts said the used round of ammunition was a homemade item on the basis of rockets made in Syria’s north by the so-called Bashair Al-Nasr brigade.  Moscow made the statement based on conclusions reached by the Russian experts who carried out an investigation into the March 19 chemical attack, which left 26 Syrian civilians and soldiers dead and nearly 100 others injured.

In the end, the Syrian Arab Army will emerge victorious against takfiri terrorism and liberate all areas up to the borders with Turkey, just like what happened in al-Hosn, Yabroud, al-Queseir and Ma’alula.
